Liontown has shipped its first cargo of spodumene concentrate, and also its largest load so far from Kathleen Valley in Western Australia, to LG Energy Solution under the pair’s long-term offtake agreement.
The miner said the shipment left the Port of Geraldton on 10 December aboard the MV Bunun Queen. The shipment comprised of two separate Liontown cargoes, totalling about 33,000 wet metric tons (WMT) of spodumene concentrate with a weighted average concentrate grade of approximately 5.2% Li2O,1 including about 11,000 WMT designated for LG Energy Solution, with the balance sold to an existing short-term offtake customer.
It is the fourth cargo to leave Kathleen Valley lithium operations since the asset commenced production.
“We have now shipped one cargo per month since our first cargo in September, generating revenue and demonstrating continued progress on our ramp up toward becoming a reliable, major supplier of lithium to the global market,” said Liontown MD and CEO Tony Ottaviano.
